Global Measurement Solutions and CCS Image Group has teamed up with LASERTECH® Floorplans to provide the most technologically advanced solution to the GM Facility Image Program.
Our surveying methodology, which is unique in the market, consists of the following 3 elements. While the first 2 items can be purchased by anyone, it is the integration of these coupled with our LTS® Survey software, which keeps us at the forefront of surveying technology:
Surveyor carries pen-tablet and laser Disto to collect all measurements
- We use a state-of-the-art hand-held measuring device called a Distometer, produced by Leica Geosystems. The “Disto” is accurate to within 1/8” over 300 feet. We record all of our field measurements to this tolerance level, which translates to within 1/100th of a foot.
- The “Disto” is wireless linked via Bluetooth technology to a Fujitsu Lifebook P1620 notebook/pen-tablet. This ensures that our operators have the most efficient field systems with which to perform their field surveys. The Lifebook is small and lightweight, yet is packed with all the performance features you’d expect in a typical desktop system. When combined with the intuitive pen-interface, plus the built-in wireless Bluetooth-connection to the laser, this makes for a truly state-of-the-art field data entry system.
- Finally, we use LTS®, which is a custom survey software solution, developed and used solely by LASERTECH® Floorplans. Basically a Windows program with a “CAD-engine” at its core, it was designed and built from the ground up for the efficient gathering and recording of as-built building data, customized to take advantage of the wireless link to the laser “Disto” plus the pen-tablet interface. With LTS® running on the Fujitsu, its intuitive point-and-click interface is designed for ease of use. Our trained field operators simply input measurements via the laser “Disto”, handwriting or the manual keypad. Even more importantly, the program enforces a standard methodology and ensures a building is drawn accurately and correctly before leaving the field. Accuracy is ensured through dynamic element-linking, tolerance settings and automated closure checks. That is why LTS® it THE standard for creating “As-builts”; it’s not just a drawing tool, it is a SURVEY TECHNOLOGY. Return trips to the field are completely eliminated!
